Baby Pittman Update
According to my last post it has been six weeks since I last
made an entry. Whoops. Well, a lot has been happening in those last six weeks.
Here is a progression of the growing belly to start off with.

Our other big news is from our ultrasound at almost 21
weeks! First off, it was AMAZING to see our little one again! The baby on the
screen actually looked like a baby with little hands, feet, toes and
everything. Not the little peanut we saw last time. The tech started off doing
what she called “boring” photos to make sure she got the important things
documented. Lots of measuring of the head, heart, body etc. Baby was moving and
grooving the whole time! I could feel baby moving and we could see baby moving!
She was having issues getting some good pictures because of all the movement.
She asked if I’d had any caffeine that morning, which I hadn’t, because he was
so active. (I think little one was so active because Keith and I had gone to
Omaha the weekend before, our appointment was on Monday, and had done lots of
walking! Baby is usually quiet while I move and is active while I’m quiet).
Anyway, after doing all the measurements, checking out the heart and hearing
the heart beat, looking at the chubby belly and legs it was time to see if baby
p. was a he or a she. The tech moved the wand around to get a look and baby
stopped moving and grooving with his/her legs crossed…the tech tried gently
shaking my belly and poking around and nothing. Finally she suggested I lay on
my side which would possibly get baby to move. Luckily it worked! We went into
the appointment fully expecting to be told we were having a girl as that was
Keith’s prediction and it followed all the old wives tales. Soon after I moved
to my side the tech pointed and the screen and said “do you know what that
means?!” I started laughing and told Keith he was wrong! It’s a BOY!! I think
we were both shocked! (But very excited!) The tech then said she liked to take
a couple pictures before making a definitive judgment but she was fairly
certain it was a boy. I told her that was fine with us as Keith’s
brother/sister in law were told girl only to have a beautiful baby boy. She got
a little nervous we would have repeat so she took LOTS of pictures proving he
was in fact a boy! Here are some of our pictures from the big day. I apologize they're sideways. I thought I could rotate them but I guess I can't and I'm to tired tonight to figure it out.
Fingers
Proof it's a boy!
Profile
More proof it's a boy. Look at those chubby legs! Baby boy was 11 oz on this day so not really any fat on him but he thighs look chubby!
Feet, hope they aren't going to be Pittman size!
View of his heart and heart beat. I think it was 150ish.
Another profile, this one of him stretching.
Of course Kolby HAD to be a part of the announcement. Kolby has a rope toy from target he loves,
it’s the go to toy and often minutes after waking him he delivers it to Keith
to play with. I figured using similar rope toys would be good for the
announcement as baby will no doubt be playing LOTS of tug of war and fetch. I
bought a pink and white rope and a blue and white rope so we’d be prepared for
either way. Keith had the good idea to have Kolby pick the rope out of the box and
video tape it so we could post it as our announcement on facebook. Keith put a
bit of peanut butter on the blue rope and put them both in the box before I let
Kolby out of his room. Kolby came running out, sniffed around the box, and
grabbed the blue rope. He did great but we realized we probably should have
been narrating a little bit so we repeated the process. This time though Kolby
sniffed the box, walked away, came back and licked the box for a bit, sniffed
some more and then FINALLY grabbed the blue rope. Total Kolby style! Oh well,
it was an adorable and memorable little video.
It has been so much fun now knowing what we are having. It’s
nice to be able to call the baby him instead of it or baby. We started
discussing names right away and currently have 3 we really like. We will see if
they change by January and which one fits our little guy. We’ve also found some
adorable little boy clothes of course! (Grandma has too!) I realized I’m going
to be surrounded by boys with baby, Keith, and Kolby but I can’t wait for Kolby
to have a playmate. I see them being best friends! I also am excited to see
Keith as a daddy and meeting his son. I know he’ll be such a good day. It
always takes my breath away a little when I say “my son or Keith’s son” makes it
even more real. I found the onsies below this week and just HAD to buy them.
In other baby related news we are starting to get the
nursery put together. My mom came down and helped finish off the painting
awhile ago and after some nagging Keith finished the flooring in the closet. We
now have our big bookcase set up in the closet to store his ever growing supply
of clothes! My parents took a trip to
Minneapolis recently as well and bought baby a changing table and night stand
at IKEA. My dad was even nice enough to put them together for us! We (mostly
me!) also put baby boy’s crib together. We had a tough week at the beginning of
September which I’ll blog about later so I decided to order our crib so we
could have something fun to do (or fun to me). I put it together one night with
some help from Keith, I was pretty proud of myself! I think it looks great with
the room. A few months ago we also had purchased stickers for the wall. It’s a
big tree with happy little forest friends. Keith suggested we hand those up
last week and I think they look wonderful! I’m glad he was helping as I would
have made the tree crooked and had all sorts of issues.
Some toys for baby:)
Finished crib and changing table.
The start of the building.
Maggie likes the changing table.
The finished tree.
