What's going on at the Pittman household?!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been on here last. I’m sure I could come up with a number of excuses as to why I’ve been missing but I think I’ll go with this one…

Kolby was behaved enough to help us announce to the world that we are going to have a baby! (A two leg baby) Baby Pittman is officially due January 29, 2014. I’m hoping not during the middle of a snow storm but I do have the right husband for that scenario and we only live a few minutes from the hospital. Needless to say this news has pretty much consumed our lives for the past couple monthsJ Just a quick rundown on non baby related news: I went to NYC with my mom and brother over the 4th and had a fantastic time! We saw many of the tourist destinations and even got to see Lion King on Broadway! We also met up with the Nass family in July to enjoy a weekend at the Moll cabin. Lots of games, relaxing, and laughter! Keith just recently got back from a five day motorcycle adventure with his dad. They went to Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin and camped along the way. From the sounds of it they had a pretty good time! Kolby and I survived being alone for a few days. I went to my parents over the weekend for Watermelon Days and to let Kolby run around the farm. As always he had a ball and came home exhausted! Sunday Keith turned the big 25! He said he feels old but not as old as his wife! That’s a quick update on our summer, minus baby news. It’s been a great summer so far!
Our Baby Story
Not sure if anyone is interested but this is a way I can remember this special time years down the road. We found out pretty early on that we were expecting, for a number of reasons. One being, I’m incredibly impatient and two being the fact that I started to feel sick at week three. I didn’t know this was possible, some people would probably say it isn’t but when I almost threw up at the farmer’s market one day before we even found out I would beg to differ. Monday morning, May 20th, after feeling crummy for the past few days and knowing there was a slim chance we could receive a positive this early I decided to take a test. I nearly fell over when almost immediately it said positive. I didn’t quite believe it so I did another one. I just couldn’t believe it was real! When that one came back positive I stood in the bathroom for a few minutes smiling like an idiot. I finally pulled myself together and went to wake up Kolby. Keith was still at work. I went in and told him he was going to be a big brother, I’m not sure if he was excited about that or the fact he knew a walk and breakfast was next on the agenda but he looked happy. We headed out for a walk and I’m pretty sure I was smiling the whole way! Keith was home by the time we got back (walking with Kolby is sometimes a very slow process). I said good morning and went to get one of the tests. Keith was working on making breakfast. I asked him if he had plans for late January or early February before showing him the test. He looked at me confused for a second before a big smile appeared on his face. When then hugged and he told me I was sweaty and sticky…special moment over I guess! It was a great morning. I was actually working late that night so I was able to spend some extra time at home which was nice. We had breakfast of bacon and eggs before I headed out. I thought it was funny when Keith proposed he proposed with an egg (and we had eggs that night) and then the morning we find out we’re having a baby we again had eggs. Apparently, were egg people?
I made it about 24 hours (or maybe a little less) before I told my mom. Yes, I have a big mouth. She was just a little excited about the news. I made it until the weekend before we told my dad and Keith’s parents. We made them mugs that said “great dads/moms get promoted to grandpa/grandma” and gave them little critter grandparent books. My mom’s mug said “the only thing better than having you as a mom is my children having you as a grandma” or something similar. I also gave my parents a onsie that said “are these people really my relatives?” I think it was a long week for my mom and I! Keith decided he didn’t want to tell his family until we were further along so I had to keep my mouth shut which was INCREDIBLY hard especially after his brother announced they were expecting in February! I was able to tell Ben pretty early, we gave him a box of Uncle Ben’s rice! I also blabbed to most of my family early on. We kept it most of the way quiet though until we hit about 12 weeks. Keith was able to tell most of his family in person which was nice and then we made it “facebook official!”
We are 13 weeks now, which some say is the start of the 2ndtrimester and others say next week is. I’m going with this week as I’m ready for it! The past 10 weeks or so have been rough on the Pittman household. I say household because poor Keith and Kolby have also suffered. I felt pretty crummy from about three weeks until around week 11. Between getting sick often and being exhausted I was little help around the house or with Kolby. I don’t think I’ve cooked in two months which is insane! I either was too tired or disgusted by food to do anything in the kitchen. I also haven’t taken Kolby out for a walk in WAY to long. Again to tired or sick to head out the door. Or it has been like 115 degrees here which is too hot for anyone to be out in! I’m slowly starting to feel better. I was able to get a prescription for the nausea which has been a great help. I’ve started to get some energy back as well which has been great! Keith has been amazing; he has pretty much taken over cooking, cleaning, dealing with Kolby, doing laundry etc. He really has been awesome. He hasn’t even complained, even when I’ve taken to many sick days to count which means less money coming into the house! I always knew he was a great guy but he has really showed it these past few months. I really could go on and on about how wonderful he has been. If you see him sometime give him a big hug! Okay, maybe it wouldn’t be a special thing as he hates hugs!
Even though I’ve found pregnancy to be difficult we’ve had some pretty amazing moments and I am so thankful that God has blessed us with this wonderful little baby! Here’s a few of the highlights!
-Telling Keith, it was such a special morning, one I’ll always treasure.
-My mom’s response. I ended up having to tell her via phone which was not how I planned but she was so excited and is so excited that it doesn’t matter. She could barely contain herself until she could tell my dad and until she could tell her friends.
-The love and excitement we’ve experienced when sharing our news. We are obviously very excited but I’ve been blown away by all the responses from family and friends. To know they’re so excited and already love our little one makes me so happy!
-Seeing our baby and hearing the heartbeat during our week seven ultrasound. Hearing the heartbeat was amazing, I can’t do it justice.
-Working on names with Keith…he’s a little opinionated but it has been fun.
-Getting ready for baby. My mom and I have been shopping, looking, decorating, etc and having a great time planning for baby.
-Daydreaming about baby!
