There's this dog...

Who I have fallen head over heels in love with. He is also ornery, rambunctious, and to smart for his own good! A year ago last weekend Kolby came barreling into our lives. A few weeks ago I did a blog on "Kolby proofing your house" in honor of his emergency room visit. Tonight I thought I'd do a blog reflecting on the last year in honor of his first year with us. It has been quite a year with laughter, tears, lots of love, and LOTS of patience.Without further ado here are the top 20 highs and lows of the past 372 days together!

  • Low: The morning Kolby ate (someone else's) $5 bill when it was left on the table after poker night.
  • High: Watching him run around my parents farm chasing birds and playing in the creek.
  • Low: Getting kicked out of day care.
  • High: Going sledding on the golf course.
  • Low: The time he ate an entire bird while on a walk together.
  • High: Every morning when I walk into his room to let him out of his kennel and he is excited to see me and ready for the day!
  • Low: The day he stole a bottle of Tylenol and ended up at the puppy emergency room.
  • High: When we discovered he becomes VERY active after 9:30 and started enforcing a 9:30 bedtime.
  • Low: The night he tried to eat the Bible, Baby Jesus, and my Twilight book. This was also the night he ate a pen and stained the carpet.
  • High: Playing hide and go seek and wrestling on the bed.
  • Low: When he chewed through his travel kennel on a trip home and ate my door handle.
  • High: Waking dad up by sticking his cold nose under the blanket.
  • Low: The morning he ate my glasses while I was in the shower.
  • High: Each time I come home, or just come back into the room after being gone for awhile, he gets so excited. His whole body shakes!
  • Low: Trying to cook, clean, or put clothes away when he is around...
  • High: Those rare times he is tired and wants to cuddle.
  • Low: Learning to point using the cat.
  • High: The fact that he thinks every police car and man in uniform is Keith and gets so excited. My two favorites are when he peed on Keith's squad car one night because he was so excited to see him and when he about jumped out of the car when he thought he saw Keith leaving a house (it was another officer).
  • Low: When he realized he could reach into the sink and steal things and when he realized how to open the trash can and steal things.
  • High: Having a buddy to go for walks and runs with.
Turns out we've had lots of lows and even more highs. Life with Kolby hasn't always been easy but I wouldn't trade our ornery and rambunctious pooch for anything!
