Now and Later Baked Ziti

This makes 12 servings so I cut the recipe in half and it just made one dish. This is the recipe for the full 12 servings.

What you need:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 7 1/2 cups mushroom italian sauce
  • 1 package (1 lb) of pasta, cooked and drained
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated or shredded parmesan cheese
What you do:
Cook the beef and onion in an 8 quart saucepot over med-high heat until the beef is well browned, stiring often. Pour off any fat. Stir the sauce, ziti, and 2 cups mozz. cheese into the saucepan. Spoon the beef mixture into 2 (12 1/2 in X 8 1/2 X 2in) pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until beef mixture is hot and cheese is melted.

If you are freezing one of the casseroles do not bake, cover with foil and freeze. Bake the frozen ziti uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until hot. To thaw leave in fridge for 24 hours.
