What you need for bars:
- 2 cups of light brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 cups of oatmeal (quick)
Combine brown sugar and butter; add eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, soda, and salt. Mix well, then add oatmeal. Spread 2/3 mixture in 9X13 or jelly roll pan. Spread with filling. Top with remaining oatmeal mixture. You may want to add 2 to 3 Tbls of water to remaining mixture for easier spreading.
What you need for filling:
- 1 can condensed sweetened milk
- 2 T. butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 12 oz package semi sweet chocolate chips
In a double pan, combine condensed milk, chocolate chips, salt and butter until chocolate is melted. Add vanilla. (I don't know what a double pan is...so I just heat in pan and watch it carefully). Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until starting to turn brown around the edges.
Let's make these this weekend and I will show you wha a double boiler is! I don't cook but I CAN bake!! (Sarah's mom)
ReplyDeleteSounds good! Keith will be excited he LOVES these bars but I usually complain that they take to much work to make.
